ROYALS BLAST THROUGH THE SHIELD

The South Muskoka Shield were playing their second road game in as many nights. After losing 4-2 friday night in Elliot Lake, their were at the Centre in Temiscaming for a Saturday nighter against the home town Royals. The welcome mat was pulled from right under their skates as the Royals lit up the goal light 10 times on their way to a resounding win by the score of 10-2.

The Shield were playing with a very short bench, only 3 extra skaters. The Royals jumped to a first period lead with 3 goals by; Corey Raymond(22) on a power play, Brandon Blanche(19) and Benoit Fiset(7).
The second period started off slow, the Royals got into some penalty problems and the Shield responded with two power play goals by Dylan Sontag. After the second Shield goal, the Royals turned up the tempo and in the span of 2 minutes regained their three goal advantage with goals from North Bay's Chris Fraser(3) and Alex Brazeau(13). After two periods the shots were 39 to 8 in favor of the Royals.

During the second period, the Shield lost 2 players, one with a leg injury and one from a game misconduct for leaving the bench in an altercation. This left the visitors with only one spare skater.

In the third, the Royals kept attacking with a another five goals. Tim Revell(11) scored a couple of nice unassisted goals by stickhandling through the defense and putting a good move to beat the goalie. Marc Desgagne also pitched in with a couple. Brandon Blanche (20) with only 22 seconds left scored his second of the night. Cedric Boutin had 4 assists while Felix Gilbert had two.

Guillaume Piche collected the win while Ryan Cote, Eric Pye and Steve Brown all took a part in the loss.

The shots on goal were 61-12 Royals.

The crowd announced at 453 cheered as the 3 stars of the game were introduced; 1st star Tim Revell, 2nd star Cedric Boutin and the 3rd star Alex Brazeau
