TOWN OF TEMISCAMING
PUBLIC NOTICE
THE NORTH BAY AND DISTRICT HUMANE SOCIETY WILL NO LONGER PROVIDE US WITH ITS SERVICES
For several years, the Town of Temiscaming transferred unclaimed stray dogs and cats to the Humane Society for adoption.
Because of the high number of stray animals brought to the shelter, they are no longer able to accommodate animals from outside of North Bay. The SPCA in Rouyn-Noranda cannot assist us for the same reasons.
Also, because Mr. Duval wished to retire from his duties as animal control officer, the Town of Temiscaming must temporarily suspend its animal control service. The situation will be analysed in order to evaluate the type of service the Town will offer in the future. Therefore, animal owners must deal with a veterinary if they wish to give up their pets.
However, regulations regarding animals will still be in effect: animal owners (dogs and cats) must always keep their animal tied on their property and must also ensure that they do not disturb the peace of their neighbours.
The Town of Temiscaming wishes to thank Mr. Duval for his nine years of excellent service as animal control officer.
If you have any questions regarding this situation or the regulations, please call the municipal inspector at 819 627-3273 extension 106.
