What a start for the Temmiscaming Royals!
The Royals had one busy weekend as they played two games in less than 24 hours!
In the first game the Royals disposed of the Nipissing Alouettes 6-4. The witty Sylvain Babin put the puck in the net twice and earned the 1st star of the game. The Royals dominated the Als, bombarding their goalie with 50 shots.
For the second game, The task seemed difficult as they were facing the Richmond Hill Rams without their Ace d-man Rylan Henly who was serving the first of two games in his suspension for fighting. None the less, Steve McCharles motivated the Royals who got one heck of a quick start taking the lead 4-0. However the lack of discipline hurt the Royals who saw their lead reduced to two goals. If it wasn't for the solid performance of Guillaume Piché in net the match could've certainly taken a turn for the worst. Finally, the Royals were able to hold on and take it by a score of 5-2. The lasarrois defenceman, Sébastien Poirier delivered a heck of a performance tallying one goal and two assists however the first star of the game belonged to Darcy Vallaincourt who scored one goal and added three helpers total 4 pts in the game.
The Royals next match will be friday September 14th at 7:30 pm at the Temmiscaming recreational centre, the Royals will be facing the league defending champs the Bradford Rattlers. The organizing comity prepared opening ceremonies to celebrate the arrival of the Royals to the GMHL.
