BY-LAW CONCERNING FIRE PREVENTION

EXCERPT FROM BY-LAW #710 REPEALING BY-LAW #589 CONCERNING FIRE PREVENTION

BONFIRES AND OPEN-AIR FIRES

14.5. At all times, bonfires and open-air fires are prohibited. However, a permit may be issued by the representative of the fire department for family gatherings, municipal celebrations, public events, or when it is demonstrated that there is no other reasonable way to dispose of plant-based and natural materials, such as by transporting them to an authorized site.

The issuance of a permit does not imply liability on the part of the fire department or the Town.
An adult must be responsible for the bonfire or open-air fire and must be able to make decisions and take the necessary actions to maintain control of the fire and extinguish it if needed.

14.6. To obtain a permit, individuals must contact the fire department's administrative assistant - fire prevention officer and submit a request including the following information:

  • The name and address of the applicant, the name of the responsible person if representing an organization, and a phone number;

  • The proposed location of the fire, as well as the date, time, and duration;

  • The type of fire, combustible materials to be used, the fire's diameter, and height;

  • Photos of the proposed fire site;

  • A description of planned safety measures.

The property owner may send the above information to the email address service.incendie@temiscaming.net or call 819 627-3273, extension 130.

A response to the burn permit request mentioned above will be issued by the fire department representative within fifteen (15) days of receiving a complete application.

In case of any discrepancy, the French version shall prevail as the original and legally binding version.
