SMOKE ALARMS: ARE YOU WELL PROTECTED?
Every second counts in the event of a fire. That's why it's essential to install your smoke alarms in the right places throughout your home.
WHERE TO INSTALL THEM?
* On every level of the home, including the basement
* In the hallway near the bedrooms
* Ideally inside each bedroom
* At least 1 meter (3 feet) away from cooking appliances
Also, make sure they are functional, well maintained, and replaced every 10 years.
Why is it important?
Because a properly installed and functioning smoke alarm can save your life and the lives of your loved ones. Smoke from a fire can disorient you in just a few seconds.
INSPECTIONS COMING THIS SUMMER
Our firefighters will be visiting certain homes as part of a fire prevention operation. Their goal? To help you ensure your smoke alarm setup is compliant and safe.
We encourage you to open your door and work with them. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and strengthen the safety of your home.
