MAYOR'S MESSAGE | A MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY
The past few hours have brought their share of concern and questions. That is completely understandable when news affects an employer that is so important to our community.
For the time being, we are awaiting RYAM's official statement so that the company can provide details on the situation and we can rely on the facts.
But there is one thing we can already do: stand together.
Since the announcement, I have seen many messages of hope and encouragement shared on social media. That is the strength I hope we will carry with us in the weeks ahead.
Let's continue to support one another. Let's continue to support our local businesses. Let's avoid fueling rumours and rely on verified information.
Our thoughts are with the workers, their families, and everyone affected by the uncertainty surrounding this situation.
For its part, the Town is continuing the work already underway. From the first discussions surrounding the possibility of new tariffs, we took a clear position and began working with the various levels of government to defend the interests of our community and emphasize the importance of our industry. That work continues today with our partners.
Temiscaming has always been a strong and united community. More than ever, we must preserve that collective strength.
Let's hold on to that strength. Let's stand united. And let's keep moving forward together.
