MAYOR'S MESSAGE | HEALTHCARE IN ONTARIO
Dear residents,
I would like to provide you with an update regarding access to healthcare services in Ontario.
Since the beginning of our efforts, our objective has remained the same: to reach a long-term solution that takes into account our geographic reality and ensures our residents have access to healthcare services in Ontario.
The file has progressed through several stages over the past year, and the work continues.
I receive a weekly update from Deputy Minister of Health Daniel Paré to closely follow the progress being made.
Concrete work is also taking place between the healthcare organizations involved. A first draft agreement between the North Bay Regional Health Centre and Santé Québec - Abitibi-Témiscamingue is now being discussed with the parties involved.
There is still work to be done before a final agreement can be reached. However, we have now reached a stage where the two organizations are working directly on an agreement that could establish a framework for our access to healthcare services in Ontario.
This is an important step forward.
For more than a year, I have kept you informed as developments have occurred. The various Mayor's Messages published on this matter also provide an overview of how far we have come since our initial efforts began.
This matter is being taken seriously, discussions are ongoing, and progress continues to be made.
I remain in close contact with those involved and will continue to keep you informed as new developments arise.
