WATER SYSTEM FLUSHING | MONTH OF OCTOBER
Throughout the month of October, the Public Works Department will be conducting the flushing of the water distribution system and fire hydrants throughout the Town.
This preventive maintenance operation helps remove sediment and particles that may naturally accumulate in water mains and contributes to the proper functioning of the water system.
During the flushing operations, you may notice:
- a slight decrease in water pressure;
- yellowish or brownish discoloration of the water;
- temporarily cloudy water.
These effects may occur when flushing stirs up deposits inside the water mains and are generally temporary.
PRACTICAL TIPS
If your water becomes discolored or cloudy, let the cold water run until it becomes clear again.
If you see the Public Works crew flushing a fire hydrant in your area, we also recommend that you limit your water usage during the operation and postpone doing laundry until afterward to avoid staining clothing.
The flushing operations will take place in various areas of the Town throughout the month of October.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
