HIGH-SPEED INTERNET DEPLOYMENT IN TÉMISCAMINGUE

For several months now, you will have noticed that teams are working on our territory to deploy a fiber optic network, resulting from the government program " Operation High Speed ".

Videotron is implementing a new-generation, sustainable and state-of-the-art network, namely fiber at home, which supports Internet packages based on symmetrical speeds above 1000/1000 Mbps, well above the minimum speeds required by subsidy programs,  according to the same single fee schedule for all their customers.

For the territory of the MRC de Témiscamingue, connections will begin in August and could be spread out until February 2023.  As of July 29, 2022, 369 citizens of our MRC have registered with Videotron to obtain the service as soon as it is laid off.  Continue to register in large numbers, so teams can optimize the areas to be connected when the network is ready.  Check the availability of their services at your address by consulting the following link: https://videotron.com/internet/haute-vitesse. You can leave your contact information there to be notified of the upcoming availability of Videotron's services in your area.

In addition, the High-Speed Internet Secretariat received information from Internet service providers that some fiber-optic projects would be finalized beyond September 30th. This information has already been visible for a few weeks on the interactive map. Households that find themselves in this situation will have the opportunity to subscribe to Starlink, while a wireline project is completed in the area. This temporary solution will allow all Québec households to have access to high speed before September 30, 2022.

The subscription can be made directly from the interactive map during the month of August. Subscribing to Starlink has no impact on the upcoming wireline project, the agreement with the Internet service provider still holds.
