ACTIONS BY THE TOWN OF TEMISCAMING - FOREST FIRES IN ABITIBI-TÉMISCAMINGUE

Temiscaming, June 5, 2023 - The Town of Temiscaming's municipal civil security organization (OMSC) is now taking significant action to limit the risk of forest fires on the territory.

Since the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts has banned forest access on Government-owned land, the Town of Temiscaming has put in place new safety measures that will take effect immediately:

  • No open fires or campfires until further notice;
  • Closure of the municipal campground, lookouts and forced pipelines circuit, including Thorne Park;
  • Complete closure of the bike path and all hiking trails;
  • The Fire Department will be present on the territory to raise awareness among residents.

A message board will be installed at the Ontario side entrance to the Town to inform citizens and visitors of the new measures. The Town's communications on the evolution of the situation will be available through the Town's website, Facebook page, the digital billboard at Philippe Barrette Park and the municipal alert system.

Everyone's cooperation is essential!
