A LIFE DEDICATED TO OTHERS: RÉGIS BÉRUBÉ HONOURED BY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF QUÉBEC
The Town of Temiscaming proudly highlights the tribute recently received by Mr. Régis Bérubé - a citizen with a big heart, a tireless builder, and a devoted volunteer for decades.
On May 17, Mr. Bérubé was awarded the Lieutenant Governor of Québec's Medal - a distinction that honours a life devoted to others, often in the shadows, yet with a truly radiant impact.
Born in 1945, the 4th child in a family of 12, he embodies deep values: hard work, mutual aid, and humility.
His actions speak for themselves - and their impact echoes throughout our community:
-
Construction of low-income housing
-
Founding of the Chamber of Commerce building, which he presided over for 15 years
-
Rescue and leadership of a snowmobile club for 25 years
-
Launch of a volunteer fire brigade with nothing more than a used pickup truck
-
Planting 45 red pines by hand to mark the 45th anniversary of the Lions Club
And this is only a glimpse of his involvement:
-
Delivering firewood, food, and furniture to those in need
-
Maintaining parks, trails, and recreational infrastructure
-
Organizing community clean-ups, building parade floats, and leading charity events
-
Supporting schools, daycares, youth centres, and local organizations
Always there. Always ready to help. Always humble.
Congratulations, Mr. Bérubé, on this well-deserved recognition. Your journey is an inspiration and a powerful reminder: one heartfelt gesture can transform an entire community.
Thank you for everything you have done - and continue to do. The Town of Temiscaming proudly says bravo and thank you.
